Dexter police chief submits resignation, plans to retire |

DEXTER — Police Chief James Emerson submitted his resignation to the town last week and plans to retire as a full-time law enforcement officer on Feb. 17. Emerson has served the Dexter police department for 30 years with the last three as the chief.

DEXTER — The Dexter Regional High School cheerleading team was without a key contributor to the regional championship team on Feb. 11 during the state championship meet held in Augusta — at which the team finished fourth. Cheerleader David McKusick was diagnosed with a heart ailment two days after the squad captured the Eastern Maine Class C title on Jan. 28 which resulted in him not being able to compete.

DEXTER — The Tri-County Technical Center held the Local Skills Showcase Competition Jan. 25 where the following medal winners were selected. Congratulations to all the students who participated in this year’s competition. The Gold medal winners will be competing in the State level SkillsUSA competitions scheduled for March 15-16 in Bangor. Students who participated in this event are from the following schools: Dexter Regional High School, Foxcroft Academy, Nokomis Regional High School, Penquis Valley High School, Piscataquis Community Secondary School and Greenville High School
