        WEST BOOTHBAY HARBOR — Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences has selected 16 Maine high school juniors who will be the Laboratory’s 2009 Keller BLOOM Program class.   • PCHS team headed to state Envirothon finals after qualifying at recent meet

        SKOWHEGAN — Nine teams from seven Maine high schools went head to head in competition at the recent Central Regional Envirothon. Greenville High, who attended with two teams, and Piscataquis Community High School, who became the third place winner, had battled armed with knowledge at the Lake George Regional Park in Skowhegan. Competition was fierce for trophies and top scores, which would lead them on to the state Envirothon.

        GREENVILLE  – Plum Creek announced it has awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Foxcroft Academy student Molly Cyr. Plum Creek annually awards scholarships to exemplary high school seniors who plan to continue their education after graduation.   • Patriots earn win No. 10 of the season

        MILO — Penquis Valley High School earned its  10th win of the season with a 6-5 victory against Penobscot Valley High School of Howland on May 22. The Patriots (10-2) jumped out to a 4-0 lead, fell behind 5-4 and then went up 6-5 in the fourth inning and kept the Howlers (6-6) off the scoreboard for the rest of the day.
