  • Ponies pull away from Orono for semifinal win

        DOVER-FOXCROFT — After a goal in the first two minutes of the second half, third-seeded Foxcroft Academy’s 2-0 lead was cut to 2-1 during a Class C East semifinal against No. 7 Orono High School on October 21. But the Ponies (13-3) responded with two unanswered goals to never relinquish the lead and defeat the Red Riots (7-8-1) 4-1.

        DOVER-FOXCROFT — After last season’s loss in the semifinals to the eventual state champions, Foxcroft Academy had to wait until the regular season finale on October 23 to play John Bapst Memorial High School of Bangor. Both teams came in at 7-0 and the Crusaders used two first quarter touchdowns to jump out to a 15-3 lead less than 12 minutes in.

    MILO — A goal in the first half, a pair in the second half and a shutout by the defense all helped the Penquis Valley High School boys soccer team top George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill 3-0 in a Class C East preliminary game on October 23.

  • Pearsall places 24th at college X-C meet

    WATERVILLE — Bates College of Lewiston freshman Graham Pearsall, of Guilford and a 2009 graduate of Foxcroft Academy, finished 24th out of 122 college runners at the Maine State Cross-Country Championship on October 17 at Colby College. Pearsall covered the 5-mile course in 28 minutes, 14.9 seconds.
