In this initial phase we are gauging community support for saving Central Hall by seeking pledges in an amount sufficient to take the building off the town’s budget for approximately one year.         AUGUSTA — The 2010 state property valuations rose by $84.6 million for Piscataquis County towns and unorganized territories which is a 6 percent increase over the previous year. The Piscataquis County total property valuation is now over $2.5 billion with all but three of the 19 Piscataquis County towns  seeing an increase.

         BANGOR — The Washington Academy Raiders withstood a furious third-period comeback by the Foxcroft Academy Ponies boys basketball team on Feb. 19, as it saw its lead trimmed from 12 to three points in the final two minutes of the third quarter. WA stormed back in the fourth period through its full-court zone trap and clutch three-point shooting to propel itself to 68-50 victory in the Eastern Maine C semifinals.

        DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Foxcroft Academy Ponies earned a 54-52 Eastern Maine Class C tournament boys quarterfinal victory on Feb. 16, thanks to a pair of free throws by guard Josiah Richard with 2.8 seconds remaining. FA displayed clutch free throw shooting throughout the contest as it connected on 18 of 21 attempts which helped it overcome 20 turnovers and being out-rebounded 27-19.

        BANGOR — A 21-4 first-half run and nearly a quarter’s worth of scoreless defense helped the No. 1 Foxcroft Academy (16-3) girls get past ninth-seeded Fort Kent Community High School (12-8), 52-36, in a quarterfinal game Feb. 17 at the Bangor Auditorium.
