Beekeepers to meet Sept. 14 |

DEXTER — The Penquis Beekeepers Association’s monthly meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at the VFW on Cedar Street at 7 p.m. Maine State Bee Inspector Tony Jadczak will be giving a presentation on pesticides and bee pests. Anyone interested in beekeeping is welcome to attend. Raffle tickets will be available at the meeting for purchase for a chance to win a complete beehive kit.

Wilson, council agree to further negotiate land deal during executive session |

DEXTER — The town council and Seeds of Peace Director Tim Wilson discussed some basic ground rules on Aug. 24 in discussing the sale of the former Dexter Primary-Middle School property. Wilson proposed that the purchase price should be determined by an independent appraisal and that all property improvements should be deducted from the purchase price.

SEEDS OF PEACE NEGOTIATIONS — Director Tim Wilson of Maine Seeds of Peace explains his plans for constructing a student world peace institute on Aug. 24 during a public hearing held in the Dexter councilor chambers. Maine Seeds of Peace was the only bidder for the property the town acquired when SAD 46 deeded the former Dexter Primary-Middle School back to the community. Wilson and the councilors agreed to further the discuss the purchase during a future executive session.

Dexter police chief expected to return to post this week |

DEXTER — Two municipal department heads were sidelined this summer due to medical problems. Police Chief Jim Emerson is reportedly doing well after suffering a seizure last month. He is expected to return back to work on Thursday, according to Town Manager Dave Pearson.
