SAD 41 staff hear about achievement gap from Gov. King PDF  | Print |

MILO — Earlier in the summer SAD 41 teachers, administrators and school board members were each given a copy of Tony Wagner’s book “The Global Achievement Gap”, paid for with grant funding. Books were previously sent by former Maine Gov. Angus King to all the state’s superintendents, and SAD 41 Superintendent Michael Wright recommended “The Global Achievement Gap” after reading and discussing the book with SAD 31 of Howland Superintendent Jerry White.

LIVE WITH ANGUS KING — SAD 41 faculty and administrators took part in a live videoconference, along with those at high schools in Howland and Naples, with former Maine Gov. Angus King on Aug. 30 at Penquis Valley High School. King discussed his views on how the American education system should adjust to the new world economic climate.

Extension collaborates to ‘grow’ a successful learning garden PDF  | Print |

MILO — Welcome to the Learning Garden, and you will feel welcome here, because it is located in “The Friendly Town” of Milo. Nested at the edge of an established field, children from local towns gather every Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. They come under the auspice of the UMaine Cooperative Extension 4-H Summer Garden Program, with the goal to develop gardening skills, such as, learning to identify a Colorado Potato Beetle, and the difference between weeds and seedlings.

Dedication recognizes numerous efforts to build Milo Elementary playground PDF  | Print |

MILO — Financial contributions both large and small, fund-raising efforts and countless volunteer hours have all contributed to a new playground complex at Milo Elementary School. All the various efforts to create the Clayton Johndro Memorial Playground were recognized during a formal dedication ceremony on the morning of Monday, Aug. 23.
