MILO — The fifth annual JSI/Kiwanis Golf Tourney was held Aug. 13 at the Katahdin Country Club with 11 teams competing. The tournament is now officially called the Clayton Johndro Memorial Golf Tourney in honor of the father of Barry, Mark and Terry Awalt, JSI executives who sponsor the tourney. Johndro, who passed away last year,  was instrumental is helping the Awalt boys in the beginning of their store fixture business which was actually started in the basement of their home.

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Players in grades 3-6 taking part in this season’s youth tackle football league can get their equipment on Thursday, Sept. 2 at Foxcroft Academy at 5:30 p.m.

DOVER-FOXCROFT — A new team, featuring a number of first-time varsity starters, the same result as with many games from recent memory as Foxcroft Academy defeated Orono High School 41-0 in an exhibition game Aug. 27.

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Mayo Regional Hospital is planning for the second annual Dennis Allen Memorial Golf Classic to be held Tuesday, Aug. 31 at the Natanis Golf Course in Vassalboro.

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Foxcroft Academy, the defending Eastern Maine Class C football champion, will open the 2010 season with a preseason game at home on Friday, Aug. 27 against Little Ten Conference rival Orono High School.

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Piscataquis Regional YMCA will be hosting its 20th annual Fall Golf Classic, sponsored by A.E. Robinson, on Saturday, Sept 4.
