Dexter finished 49.5 points behind in second

BANGOR — The Foxcroft Academy girls’ swimming team placed third out of 11 teams at the PVC championship meet at Husson University on Feb. 11. The girls finished behind powerhouses Bangor and Mount Desert Island but outscored Ellsworth, John Bapst, Orono, Old Town, Presque Isle, Hampden, Brewer and George Stevens. Meanwhile the shorthanded boys’ team placed a respectable ninth out of 13 teams at the Feb. 10 PVC meet, which was also held at Husson. With just 19 total athletes at the two meets combined, and each athlete only able to swim in two individual events, these were very strong finishes for the Ponies, who managed to post 28 season-best times over the course of the weekend.

ORONO — On Feb. 11 the Foxcroft Academy indoor track team traveled to the UMaine Field House for the final time this season to compete in the PVC-EMITL Championship.  The boys finished fifth overall in team scoring with a score of 34 points and the girls’ team tied for 10th (out of 14 teams) with Bucksport High School at six points apiece.

DOVER-FOXCROFT — On Saturday, Feb. 25, golfers and families are invited to the Foxcroft Golf Club for a day of fun to benefit Pine Tree Hospice. Golfers will be treated to the unique experience of “snow golf,” which is played on snow, with hula hoops acting as holes. Golf balls will be replaced with tennis balls, which will be provided for players. Golfers should bring as many clubs as they want to carry.  Teams of two are invited to play anytime between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Players will play scramble format in teams of two. Lunch is included, and will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
